Information Disorder Research Group Annual Meeting
The second annual workshop of the research group on Resisting Information Disorder in the Global South will take place in:
Cape Town, South Africa from 04-06 September followed by
the SACOMM Conference 10-12 September 2024.
The workshop will be hosted by Research ICT Africa (RIA) an African think tank that has operated for over a decade to fill a strategic gap in the development of a sustainable information society and digital economy. RIA (Sub-Saharan Africa) is one of the four regional research teams comprising the research consortium on the project Resisting Information Disorder in the Global South, supported by the IDRC. The other teams, and their regional focus areas are Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ) (MENA); LIRNEeasia (Asia); and Internetlab Brazil (Latin America).
SACOMM’s Annual Conference
The Department of Journalism is co-hosting the annual conference of the South African Communications Association
taking place from 10 to 12 September. The theme of the conference is “The Politics of the Present”.
